What's new and improved in ShareMD

Changelog

All notable changes to ShareMD will be documented in this file.

[1.7.1] - 2026-09-30

Added

  • /llms.txt: a plain-text map of the site for AI assistants, generated by MonoRanks

[1.7.0] - 2026-09-30

Added

  • After you share from the editor without an account, ShareMD emails you your link and a "Manage my docs" button. One click creates your free account, signs you in and puts every doc you shared under it. The button works once and lasts 24 hours. Each email address gets at most one of these emails an hour

Changed

  • Signing in with an email that has no account now sends a link that creates the account, instead of a "check your email" page with no email behind it
  • Confirming your email now signs you in. If you already shared docs, you land on your dashboard with them there
  • The confirmation email and the sign-in page no longer talk only about API keys

[1.6.1] - 2026-09-30

Changed

  • Pages open faster again on phones. The fonts (Inter, JetBrains Mono and Vazirmatn) now come from ShareMD itself instead of Google Fonts and jsDelivr, so the page no longer waits for another site's stylesheet before it can draw, and the main font is fetched straight away
  • The code colouring script on shared pages and in the editor now loads after the page is on screen, and only when there is code to colour. It used to be fetched before anything could show
  • The home page no longer downloads the sign-up captcha (about 300 KB) as it opens. It loads when you scroll near the sign-up form or start typing in it
  • The home page, sign-in page and new-key page keep room for the captcha, so they no longer jump when it appears, and the home page no longer jumps when its font arrives
  • Everything looks exactly as before

[1.6.0] - 2026-09-29

Changed

  • Pages open much faster on phones. The styling used to be built in the visitor's browser by a script from Tailwind's servers, which held back the first paint by several seconds on a mobile connection. It now ships as one small stylesheet (about 5 KB compressed) built ahead of time, and the pages look exactly as before
  • The home page no longer jumps while it loads

[1.5.0] - 2026-09-29

Added

  • A Guides section at /guides: short, practical articles on writing, previewing and sharing markdown. Each guide has its own page with the author, the date and links to more guides, and the section is listed in the sitemap once the first guide is published

Fixed

  • The home page describes ShareMD as an organization (with VeronaLabs as its parent) for search engines and AI answers
  • The contact emails on /privacy and /terms are plain email links again, instead of a Cloudflare link that returned 404 to crawlers
  • The /markdown-preview title is short enough to show in full in search results

[1.4.3] - 2026-08-01

Security

  • Updated every dependency with a published advisory against it. There are none left outstanding

[1.4.2] - 2026-08-01

Fixed

  • A request with no sign-in at all is now answered straight away, instead of going through the OAuth machinery first — and an unreadable token is reported as "not signed in" rather than as a server error

[1.4.1] - 2026-08-01

Fixed

  • Dependencies are now resolved against the PHP version production actually runs, so a package that needs a newer one can no longer slip into a release

[1.4.0] - 2026-08-01

Added

  • Sign in to ShareMD from your AI assistant instead of copying an API key around. An assistant that supports it connects itself, shows you a ShareMD page to approve, and stays connected for a year
  • The share tool now states plainly what it does — it creates, it never deletes, and it only ever talks to ShareMD. Assistant directories check this before listing a service

Changed

  • Existing API keys keep working exactly as they did; there is nothing to redo if you already set one up
  • Signing in now takes you back to what you were doing, instead of always landing on the dashboard

[1.3.0] - 2026-08-01

Added

  • Every share now records how it was made — from an AI assistant, the web editor, or a direct API call — so it is finally possible to see which route people use
  • The report shows how many people signed up, how many of them ever published anything, and the last 30 days at a glance

Changed

  • Our own console commands now share one prefix, so php artisan sharemd:report replaces php artisan report:users-docs
  • The reserved account that holds shares made without signing in is no longer counted as a person in the report

[1.2.3] - 2026-08-01

Changed

  • The GitHub icon in the footer now goes to the ShareMD skill repository instead of the VeronaLabs account

[1.2.2] - 2026-08-01

Changed

  • The page that hands you your API key now gives you two copy-and-run commands: one that connects ShareMD to your assistant with the key already filled in, and one that installs the ShareMD skill
  • The connect command was previously incomplete and left you to work out where the key went

[1.2.1] - 2026-08-01

Fixed

  • This changelog and the notes on each GitHub release now come from the same file, so both are updated every time a version ships
  • A deploy no longer reports a failure when the site is actually up — the after-deploy check now runs on the server itself

[1.2.0] - 2026-08-01

Added

  • Agent skill for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and other agents — install it with npx skills add veronalabs/sharemd-skill and ask your agent to share anything as a link
  • Install instructions for the skill on the homepage
  • Public web Markdown editor with live preview at /markdown-preview — write, preview, and share without an account
  • Share directly from the editor by entering an email; the share is linked to a (new or existing) account you can claim later via magic link
  • Formatting toolbar (bold, italic, headings, links, images, code, lists, tables) with keyboard shortcuts
  • Clean Share dialog for title, email, expiry, and password
  • Collapsible and drag-to-resize editor/preview panes, plus a dark/light theme toggle
  • Favicon (SVG + ICO + Apple touch icon) and a social preview image
  • Dynamic sitemap.xml and a proper robots.txt

Changed

  • Editor live preview now renders through the same server-side pipeline as the shared page, so previews (including RTL) match the final result exactly
  • Expanded on-page SEO across the site (meta descriptions, canonical URLs, Open Graph, Twitter cards, and structured data)
  • Markdown rendering and share creation consolidated into shared services (MarkdownRenderer, ShareCreator) used by both the API and the web editor
  • The MCP API key is now read from the connection header, so agents no longer pass it as an argument on every call
  • Bot protection switched from reCAPTCHA to hCaptcha, which works correctly behind Cloudflare
  • Email forms now check that the address's domain can actually receive mail, and sign-in emails are rate limited
  • Publishing a GitHub Release now runs the test suite and ships that exact version to production

Fixed

  • Persian and other right-to-left content renders in the Vazirmatn font from first paint, instead of flashing the wrong font

[1.1.0] - 2026-01-10

Added

  • Magic Link Authentication for dashboard access
  • Document Management Dashboard
  • Password Protection for documents
  • RTL Support for Persian and Arabic with Vazirmatn font by Saber Rastikerdar 🖤
  • Table of Contents for documents
  • View Counter
  • Email Verification for new registrations
  • API Key management in dashboard

Security

  • Password-protected documents use bcrypt hashing
  • Magic link tokens expire after 30 minutes

[1.0.0] - 2026-01-01

Added

  • Initial release
  • Share markdown content via API
  • Custom expiry times (1 day, 1 week, 1 month, or permanent)
  • Syntax highlighting
  • MCP server integration for Claude Code
